Barbara Tothova (she/her) is a first-year graduate student in the M.A. Clinical Psychology program pursuing the LPCC path at California State University, Dominguez Hills. She graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from California State University, Long Beach in 2025.
Barbara’s research interests broadly include the neurobiology of schizophrenia spectrum disorders and evidence-based interventions in the treatment of these disorders. Specifically, she is interested in the main neurotransmitters involved in the pathophysiology of schizophrenia spectrum disorders, as well as their pharmacological and psychosocial treatment. As a future licensed professional clinical counselor, Barbara hopes to raise awareness that psychotropic medication is only the first step in symptom management, and that approaches aimed at improving quality of life for this population, including self-care, social skills training, cognitive remediation, supported employment, and family interventions, deserve equal emphasis in mental health care. In her free time, Barbara enjoys reading, spending quality time with friends and family, traveling, and going to the beach.
