Uma is a post-baccalaureate research associate for the RISE sub-study of the Pittsburgh Girls Study at the University of Pittsburgh. Uma graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in May 2021 with a B.A. in Sociology and a B.S. in Psychology. Her current research interests include racial and ethnic identity development, how it may relate to mental health outcomes among racialized people, and how to implement community-based participatory research practices in psychology, to the end of better understanding community-based interventions and protective factors. Uma is interested in applying to Clinical and Counseling Psychology Ph.D. programs to further explore these research interests and eventually practice as a therapist. In her free time, she enjoys reading (mostly literary and contemporary fiction, but sometimes nonfiction), writing, and making food with (and for) her friends.
